FC hosted the FC Municipal Fleet Review Program Clinic on August 17, 2010, sponsored by the Ontario Municipal Knowledge Network (OMKN), at the 2010 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) annual conference in Windsor, Ont., August 15-16, 2010. Opening remarks were delivered by Mayor Karen Farbridge, City of Guelph. Speakers were: Roger Smith, Executive Director of Fleet Challenge; Chris Hill, Manager Central Fleet, City of Hamilton, Public Works Department; and Jeff Meggitt, Manager of Waste Management, Fleet and Traffic Operations, Town of Richmond Hill, Community Services Department. The clinic was well attended by Deputy Mayors, Deputy Reeves and Councillors. Plans are underway to host another Fleet Review Clinic before the new year.
The Fleet Review Program Clinic was about breaking down barriers and presenting the facts behind why greening your fleet makes good business sense and how you can improve your municipal fleet operation and environmental performance. This interactive session was fully attended by Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Deputy Reeves, Councillors, and other senior government officials. To date 30 municipalities throughout Ontario have participated in the program.
