CBC News - Gasoline predicted to reach $1.20 in 2 months

An energy consultant warned Canadian consumers Wednesday to brace for higher gasoline prices in February or March.

Roger McKnight, a senior petroleum analyst with Toronto-based En-Pro International, said he expects pump prices of about $1.20 a litre — about 15 to 20 per cent higher than they were at the same time a year earlier.

Nissan LEAF now available for purchase

Last week Nissan announced its Canadian pricing for the all-electric LEAF small passenger vehicle —  a base price of $38,395.  We used the EV300 EValuation Calculator to run a quick comparison between a LEAF purchase and the purchase of a conventional sub compact at a cost of $20,000.  The result was a 4.2 year payback thanks to significantly lower fuel and maintenance costs.
